Isingiro District council has unanimously approved its budget and annual work plan for the 2026/2027 financial year, signaling a major boost in funding to improve service delivery.
The approved budget stands at UGX 92.25 billion, up from UGX 83.23 billion, following an additional UGX 9.02 billion allocation from the central government.
District officials say the extra funds will support teacher salaries at both primary and secondary levels, improve wages for health workers, clear pension and gratuity arrears, and strengthen Primary Health Care (PHC) services.
The motion was tabled by Secretary for Finance Robert Kamuhangire during a council sitting chaired by Speaker Mayleen Nasiima at the district headquarters.
District Chairperson Aaron Turahi said the revised budget is expected to significantly improve service delivery, especially in the education and health sectors.
