Police in Mbarara City have arrested a notorious thief who had been on the run following a break-in at a Pakistan-owned pharmacy.
The suspect, identified as Daniel Amanya, alias Jamaica, was arrested on Tuesday in Ruti Ward, where he had been hiding since the robbery, which occurred during last year’s festive season.
Mbarara City Division Police Commander, SP Kenneth Gumisiriza, said Amanya is a former convict with a history of aggravated robbery. At the time of arrest, police recovered Pakistani currency and other suspected stolen items.
Gumisiriza added that the suspect is also linked to criminal activities in Kabale District and will be transferred there to face additional charges as investigations continue.
