Jovline Kalisa Kyomukama, the former Ibanda District Woman Member of Parliament, has officially announced her intention to contest for the parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections.

Kyomukama, who represented Ibanda District in the 10th Parliament from 2016 to 2021, is currently serving as the Deputy National Parish Development Model (PDM) Coordinator. Her declaration sets the stage for a potential rematch with the incumbent, Jane Bainomugisha, who unseated her in the 2021 elections.

Speaking to Crooze FM, Kyomukama expressed her readiness to reclaim her position and resume her work in serving the people of Ibanda. “I am ready to pick up from where I left off and work even harder to address the needs of my constituents,” she stated.

Kyomukama’s political career is distinguished by her commitment to service and impactful contributions. While in Parliament, she was an active member of the Committee on HIV/AIDS and Related Diseases and the Committee on Public Service and Local Government. Her efforts in these roles earned her recognition for advocating policies and initiatives that benefitted her district.

As the 2026 elections draw closer, Kyomukama’s return to the political arena is expected to reignite local interest and engagement, setting the stage for a spirited contest in Ibanda District.
