The Kiruhura Grade One Magistrate’s Court has remanded three people in connection with the murder of a 65-year-old woman, Flora Kiiza Tumukunde, a resident of Rwabigyemano Cell, Nyakasharara Parish in Kenshunga Sub-county, Kiruhura District.
The accused — Atamba Kenneth (17), Ampumuza Dickson alias Kakiga (24), and Tugume Edgar (32) — appeared before Chief Magistrate Benjamin Sseruwo, who read out the murder charges against them.
Court heard that the trio allegedly attacked and killed Tumukunde on October 17, 2025. Magistrate Sseruwo informed the court that investigations into the case are still ongoing, and the suspects were remanded until November 17, 2025, when they are expected to reappear.
Due to his age, Atamba Kenneth was remanded to Kitumba Prison in Fort Portal, while Ampumuza and Tugume were sent to Kiruhura Prison in Rugongi.
Speaking after the court session, Jackline Kiiza, one of the deceased’s daughters, said she was comforted that the police and government are working tirelessly to ensure justice for her late mother’s brutal killing.
