Residents of Ibanda North Constituency in Ibanda District have appealed to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to include their area in his campaign tour, citing long-term neglect and stalled development.

Speaking to Crooze FM, several residents expressed frustration with district leaders, whom they accused of deliberately preventing presidential visits since 2011. They said the prolonged absence has left the constituency lagging in infrastructure and basic service delivery.

Among their key demands is the elevation of Ishongororo Health Centre IV to hospital status, a proposal they claim has stalled for years despite repeated appeals. Other residents noted that the community has felt excluded from national activities and voiced a strong desire to host the President ahead of next year’s elections.

Residents say their area has been left behind in development, and they hope President Museveni will personally address their long-standing grievances.

Community leaders also highlighted the poor state of roads, noting that the dilapidated network hampers transport, trade, and access to essential services. Tumusiime Julius Kasuja, the NRM Chairperson for Kijongo Sub-county, echoed these concerns and urged the President’s campaign team to include Ibanda North in the itinerary.

According to the National Electoral Commission (NEC) campaign roadmap, President Museveni is scheduled to hold a rally in Ibanda District as part of his 2026 election campaign, leaving residents hopeful that their long-standing appeal will finally be addressed.
