President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has applauded the Catholic Church for its significant contributions to Uganda’s spiritual, social, and economic development, particularly in the Kigezi sub-region.

The President’s message was delivered by Vice President Rtd Maj Jessica Alupo during the Priestly Golden Jubilee celebrations of Bishop Callist Rubaramira, held on Sunday at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral in Kabale District.

Addressing the congregation, President Museveni recognized the Catholic Church as a key partner in national development.

He praised its long-standing efforts in evangelism, peacebuilding, education, healthcare, and community empowerment, saying the Church continues to play a transformative role in shaping lives and uplifting communities.

The President also congratulated Bishop Rubaramira on his 50 years of dedicated priestly service, commending him for his faithful leadership and positive influence on countless individuals across the country.

Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha of the Mbarara Archdiocese, who delivered the homily, also paid tribute to Bishop Rubaramira.

He described the bishop’s ministry as a legacy of unwavering faith, visionary leadership, and service to both God and community.

In his own remarks, Bishop Rubaramira expressed deep gratitude to the government, the Church, and all Catholics who have supported him throughout his journey.

He urged parents to lead by example in order to raise disciplined, hardworking children capable of contributing to national development.

The celebration drew thousands of faithful, dignitaries, and well-wishers from across Uganda, who gathered to honor a life of service and reflect on the enduring impact of faith-led leadership.
