Tadeo Majambere, the NRM Elections Officer for Kisoro District, has raised alarms over early campaigning activities by several aspirants ahead of the upcoming party elections.
Majambere highlighted that multiple candidates have already begun putting up campaign posters and banners without the necessary approvals, violating established party regulations.
These premature actions have led to stern warnings from party officials, urging strict adherence to electoral guidelines.
A recent feasibility study conducted in Kisoro Municipality identified a number of individuals actively engaged in early political campaigns.
The names mentioned include Emmanuel Maniraguha, Byibesho Sam, and Dr. Leo Mfitimana, all vying for the NRM ticket for Member of Parliament, Kisoro Municipality.
For the position of LCV Chairperson in Kisoro District, the candidates are Ndyana Richard and Milton Mutabazi. The race for Kisoro Municipality Mayor features candidates Ndikuyeze Ramanthan and Michael Bazamanza.
Majambere expressed disappointment that some candidates have not only displayed unauthorized posters but have also started addressing public gatherings, further breaching party procedures.
He reiterated that campaigning is prohibited until after official nominations and approval by the party’s electoral commission.
“This premature politicking compromises the integrity of the electoral process and undermines the fairness of the elections,” Majambere said.
He called on all candidates to respect NRM’s electoral procedures to ensure a transparent and orderly election process, reinforcing the need for compliance to maintain the credibility of the party’s election process.
