Muslims in Ibanda District have held special prayers for peace and stability ahead of Uganda’s forthcoming general elections, urging believers to reject violence and promote unity throughout the electoral period.

The prayers were led by the Ibanda District Kadhi, Sheikh Yusuf Kalule, at Ishongororo Mosque in Ishongororo Town Council, where hundreds of faithful gathered to seek divine guidance for a calm and orderly election season.

Addressing the congregation, Sheikh Kalule reminded Muslims of the importance of safeguarding the peace the country currently enjoys. He emphasized that participating in elections is a constitutional right for every Ugandan, but cautioned against acts of violence, intolerance, and provocation while exercising that right.

The Kadhi urged believers not to view election day as a do-or-die affair, stressing that peace, coexistence, and national unity must always take precedence over political interests.

Sheikh Kalule concluded by leading prayers for calm, free, and peaceful elections across the country, calling on all Ugandans to respect one another regardless of political affiliation.
