The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has urged residents of Kasese District to reject sectarian politics and instead promote peace as a foundation for sustained development and socio economic transformation.

President Museveni said past insecurity in Kasese hindered development until the NRM government restored peace through politics of unity. He called on voters to re elect him as President and vote for all NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming General Elections to consolidate peace and achieve continued development gains.

Museveni made the remarks during an NRM presidential campaign rally held at Kisinga Playgrounds in Kisinga Town Council, Bukonzo County East, Kasese District.

The President noted that under new government programmes, his administration plans to establish industrial parks that will create employment opportunities and address unemployment, particularly among the youth.

He said government jobs alone are insufficient to absorb the growing population seeking employment, warning that African governments which fail to prioritise job creation often face instability because they do not adequately address unemployment challenges.

Museveni also emphasised the need to expand irrigation schemes in Kasese to enable residents engage in commercial agricultural production that is not dependent on seasonal rainfall.
