President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged to tarmac the Ntuusi–Kashagama road in Lyantonde District, calling the project a gesture of gratitude to residents for their steadfast support of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) since its inception.
The President made the announcement during the 36th Heroes Day celebrations held on Monday at Kaliro Town Council playground.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure across the country as a catalyst for economic growth and national development.
Museveni said the road upgrade will not only ease transport but also stimulate trade and investment in the region.
He pointed to other ongoing road projects as evidence of the NRM government’s determination to enhance connectivity and improve livelihoods.
In addition to road infrastructure, the President announced plans to construct communal water irrigation systems in Lyantonde and other drought-prone areas to support agriculture and food security.
He urged communities to actively protect wetlands and called on cattle farmers to abandon nomadic grazing, which he described as outdated and environmentally damaging.
The President’s address was met with enthusiasm from local leaders and residents, who welcomed the development promises as a major boost to the district’s future.
