Police in Kanungu District have arrested a 30- years old secondary School teacher for defiling a 13-year-old girl.
The suspect identified as Brian Akampurira is accused of having carnal knowledge with a teenager whose identity has been withheld for investigation purposes.
According to Police, Akampurira is a resident of Ndeba cell, Kihihi town council in Kanungu district. The incident allegedly occurred on Sunday at around 11:00Am.
Police stated that the victim was heading for prayers on Sunday 12/10/2025 at the Healing Allena Church located at Karaunda village, upon reaching at Bright Future Primary School, she met with the suspect known to her by appearance who seduced her into love, grabbed and took her to the nearby bush and had carnal knowledge with her.
Police said that the victim made an alarm but nobody came to her rescue since it was in the Eucalyptus trees forest and had been threatened to be killed if she dared to report.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson said that fortunately, on her way home, she got a good samaritan who rode her to Kihihi Police for further assistance.
Maate said that coincidentally, the suspect also took himself to police and was quickly identified by the victim who was at the station recording a statement and he was arrested and charged with aggravated defilement.
Maate said that upon the completion of inquiries, will be produced before courts of law to answer charges accordingly.
