Jovline Kaliisa Kyomukama, the Deputy National Coordinator for the Parish Development Model and former Ibanda Woman Member of Parliament, has been overwhelmingly elected as the new National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairperson for Ibanda District.

Kyomukama secured a decisive victory during the party’s recent structure elections, garnering 443 votes against her sole challenger, Xavier Kyoma Akampurira, the current Member of Parliament for Ibanda North, who received 87 votes.

The elections took place at the Integrated Primary School playground and attracted hundreds of NRM delegates from across the district.

The enthusiastic turnout highlighted the significance of the vote in shaping the party’s grassroots leadership in the region.

Ibanda District NRM Registrar Gloria Tushemereirwe presided over the electoral process and officially announced the results.

She commended the peaceful and transparent conduct of the election, declaring Kyomukama as the duly elected NRM District Chairperson.

Kyomukama’s win is seen as a strong endorsement of her leadership and her work with the Parish Development Model, a key government initiative aimed at transforming local economies through grassroots empowerment.

Her victory positions her as a central figure in driving NRM’s political agenda in Ibanda District ahead of upcoming national activities and mobilization efforts.
