Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the recovery of election materials at Kizinda Town Council Hall following a swift response to public information.
According to police, officers acted on a tip-off and recovered several election-related materials, including suspected pre-ticked ballot papers, declaration of results (DR) forms and official seals.
The materials are believed to have been left behind at the hall after the presidential and parliamentary general elections held on January 15, 2026.
Police immediately secured the scene in accordance with standard operating procedures to preserve the integrity of the investigation.
In a move aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability, an Electoral Commission staff member has been arrested to assist with ongoing inquiries.
The Greater Bushenyi Police Public Relations Officer, SP Apollo Tayebwa, reassured the public that police will continue providing updates as investigations progress.
Tayebwa also called on anyone with relevant information to share it discreetly with the police and appealed for calm, urging the public to avoid acts of incitement as investigations continue.
