Kitagwenda Residents Travel 115km for Specialised Medical Care

By Uziah Tusaasire

Residents of Kitagwenda District travel about 115 kilometres to access specialised medical services because the district has no hospital, Kitagwenda County MP Robert Mugabe has told Parliament.

Mugabe says the long journey to Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital exposes emergency patients and expectant mothers to risks, calling on Government to upgrade Ntara Health Centre IV into a hospital.

In response, Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business Robinah Nabbanja said the proposal would be considered during the planning and budgeting for the 2027/2028 financial year, subject to the availability of resources.
