By Uziah Tusaasire

Police at Katwe have recovered 120 suspected stolen iPhones and arrested four suspects accused of possessing and dealing in the devices.

Kawala Racheal the Kampala Metroplitan Area police spokesperson says the operation follows an incident on July 16, 2026, where a police officer’s mobile phone was stolen while he was on duty at Top City Plaza in Kisenyi Cell, Kampala.

Police investigations led to the arrest of one suspect, identified as Mugabi Richard, on July 18 at around 3:00am from his residence in Kakajo, Kisenyi Cell.

According to Kawala, Mugabi admitted to stealing the officer’s phone while the officer was resting inside a vehicle.

Police say further investigations into the source of the recovered phones and the suspects’ alleged network are ongoing.
