Security forces have recovered 63 head of cattle and 24 goats stolen during a cattle raid at Oreta Hills in Oreta Sub-county, Abim District, by suspected armed Karamojong warriors from the Jie community in Kotido District.

According to Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma, the livestock belonged to two residents of Katurai Village, Kobulin Parish, Apeitolim Sub-county in Napak District.

He says a joint team of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) and the UPDF from Aujathogo Detach responded swiftly after the raid, pursued the suspects and engaged them in a gunfight.

Kituuma says the raiders abandoned all 63 cattle and 24 goats before fleeing the scene. The recovered animals are now being processed for return to their rightful owners, while security agencies continue pursuing the suspects.
