Two people have been killed in separate landslides in Bwathu and Kamabwe villages in Maliba Sub-county, Busongora County North, Kasese District.
The latest deaths bring the total number of people killed by floods and landslides in the district to six over the past three weeks.
Police in the Rwenzori East Region Police are at the scene and had not yet released the identities of the victims by press time.
Local leaders say heavy rains in the Rwenzori region have triggered a wave of landslides and flash floods, destroying homes, gardens, and roads in several sub-counties.
Meanwhile, Joseph Isingoma has urged residents living in landslide-prone areas to remain alert and consider relocating to safer ground as the rainy season continues.
