Kasese District has launched construction of the Katindo Suspension Footbridge in Ibanda-Kyanya Town Council, valued at over Shs599 million.

The project is expected to reconnect communities and reduce drowning incidents on River Mubuku, following the collapse of the previous bridge during the 2020 floods.

District Engineer Ronald Asiimwe said funding was secured from the United Nations Capital Development Fund under a climate adaptation program.

Leaders say the bridge will improve access to markets, schools, and health services, and have urged residents to support and monitor the project.
