Police in the Kampala Metropolitan Area have arrested 11 suspects for allegedly smoking marijuana, waylaying, and robbing members of the public.

The suspects were arrested from Kigombya in Mukono Central Division, Mukono District, during an operation aimed at dismantling criminal networks involved in drug abuse, robbery, theft, and other unlawful activities within the metropolitan area.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Recheal Kawala, the suspects are currently in police custody pending prosecution.

Meanwhile, Kampala Central Police Station, working with local leaders, conducted a disruptive operation codenamed “Fukuza Mafisadi” in Nakasero, Entebbe Road, Nasser Road, behind Church House, Railway Grounds, Punjani, the Electoral Commission area, and Mukwano.

The operation targeted youths who lie in wait at identified black spots before engaging in criminal acts such as snatching mobile phones and bags, and stealing vehicle parts from motorists stuck in traffic.

A total of 100 suspects were arrested during the operation and are expected to appear in court today, February 2, 2026.
