Mbarara District Woman MP, Margaret Ayebare Rwebyambu, has rubbished claims that she has bowed out of the 2026 parliamentary race, describing the reports as desperate propaganda from her political opponents.
Rwebyambu, who lost the NRM primaries to Loydah Muhimbura, is running as an independent candidate, insisting she is very much in the race despite efforts to mislead voters.
She accused her rivals of spreading falsehoods to confuse the electorate and weaken her campaign, saying such tactics only show how threatened they are by her growing support.
The 2026 Woman MP race is shaping up to be one of the hottest in the district, with Rwebyambu battling NRM flag bearer Loydah Muhimbura, alongside fellow independents Hope Maurishia and Desire Barugahare Kazoora.
Rwebyambu says she remains focused on engaging voters and is confident that Mbarara district will choose leaders based on truth, not intimidation or fabricated narratives.
