By Ivan Mugisha

The Bishop of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Muhirwa Akiiki, has expressed concern over the increasing neglect of parental responsibilities by men, warning that the trend endangers the wellbeing and future of children.

Speaking on Saturday during the official launch of construction for Tinbet Green Primary School in Bigodi Town Council—where he laid a foundation stone and presided over a confirmation Mass—Bishop Muhirwa said many men have abandoned their duty in raising children, leaving mothers to carry the burden alone.

He urged parents and guardians in Kamwenge District to safeguard their children as they break off for the third-term holiday, noting that holidays often expose young people to harmful influences.

Bishop Muhirwa also advised children to avoid destructive peer groups, stressing that many youths find themselves in trouble because of the company they keep.
