President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flag bearer, has assured residents of Kisoro District that the government will soon extend electricity to Nyarubuye Sub-county, the only area yet to be connected among the district’s 24 sub-counties.

While addressing voters in Kisoro on Monday afternoon, Museveni highlighted key development achievements made in the region and outlined priorities that remain, including improved water supply, enhanced telecommunication services, and expanded rural electrification.

He noted that although most areas in Kisoro have been connected to the national grid, Nyarubuye remains the only unserved sub-county, and he pledged to fast-track power extension to the area.

Museveni also met with district leaders and urged them to strengthen planning to ensure fair distribution of government schools. He expressed concern that despite Kisoro having 140 government primary schools, they are unevenly distributed spread across only 69 of the district’s 71 parishes.

He emphasized that the national policy requiring at least one government primary school per parish and one secondary school per sub-county must be followed. Museveni said that additional schools will be constructed in his next term to close the existing gaps and improve access to education across the district.
