Police have identified the victims of a fatal road accident that occurred on 13 February 2026 at Kibega I Village, after Sanga Town council, Kiruhura district along the Mbarara–Lyantonde Highway.
According to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, the crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. and involved two vehicles: a white Toyota Hiace (UBQ 016U) and a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer (KDQ 668L/ZH 5133).
The identified victims are:
Victor Musinguzi, 30, from Ibanda District, Otaki Charles, 49, from Oyam District, Abdu Sserugo, from Nsangi, Wakiso District, Godfrey Lukyamuzi, from Kinoni, Lwengo District, the driver of the Toyota Hiace
The others are Kitone Julius, from Rakai District, a journalist with Next Media, Ajidra Bosco, from Maracha District, Onesmus Agaba, 45 and one additional victim whose identity has not yet been established
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Toyota Hiace, which was travelling from Mbarara to Lyantonde, attempted to overtake at a corner and collided head-on with the oncoming trailer travelling in the opposite direction.
Police say investigations into the crash are ongoing.
