The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Mugisha Muntu Gregory, has criticised widespread corruption in the country, attributing it to President Yoweri Museveni’s four decades in leadership, which he said has allowed corrupt officials to thrive.

While campaigning in Mbarara District on Monday, Muntu noted that the UGX 10 trillion reportedly lost to corruption annually, according to the Inspectorate of Government, could instead be invested in strengthening the struggling health sector and developing other key infrastructure.

He emphasised that an ANT-led government would take a firm and uncompromising stance against all forms of corruption.

Muntu is later this afternoon expected to hold campaign rallies in Ibanda District.
