MP Ritah Bwahika Cries Foul Over Alleged Bribery and Intimidation in Mbarara City Race
The Mbarara City Woman Member of Parliament, Ritah Bwahika Atukwasa, has accused her rival and NRM flag bearer Charity Kibajju of bribing over 100 youth to defect from her camp.
Bwahika who is seeking re-election as an independent candidate claims the move is part of a wider scheme allegedly orchestrated by state operatives andretired army officers, who she says are moving around the city threatening her supporters and coercing them to back Kibajju.
She expressed concern that her political base is being systematically weakened through intimidation and financial inducements.
Efforts to reach Kibajju for a comment were futile by press time, but her campaign team has in the past dismissed similar allegations as political propaganda.
