Residents of Kitagwenda District have expressed frustration over what they see as a missed opportunity by their local leaders to present a comprehensive list of pressing issues during President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s recent visit.

The President was in the district to assess progress on the Parish Development Model (PDM) across the Sub-Rwenzori region.

However, residents say leaders focused almost entirely on the demand to tarmac the Ibanda–Kabujogera–Rwenja–Mahyoro–Rubirizi road—overlooking several other urgent concerns.

Speaking to Crooze FM, locals voiced disappointment that key issues such as the upgrade of Ntara Health Centre IV into a full-fledged district hospital were not raised.

They also cited the critical need for improved classroom infrastructure in both primary and secondary schools, and the stalled construction of an electric fence to prevent wild animals from destroying crops.

Many residents feel their leaders failed to represent the broader challenges facing the district and missed a rare opportunity to secure presidential attention for long-standing community needs.
