Police in Kanungu District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 28-year-old man, Emmanuel Emimex, commonly known as Boy, a resident of Kayenje Cell in Nyarurambi Sub-county.
Emimex’s body was discovered on Thursday morning floating in River Mpangango by children who had gone to fetch water.
Police officers responded immediately and secured the scene for documentation and evidence collection. A postmortem examination conducted by a medical officer at Kambuga Hospital revealed a fractured skull, which suggests that the victim may have been murdered and his body dumped in the river to cover up the crime.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirmed that the body has been handed over to the family for burial, adding that investigations are underway to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
Maate appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement by providing any relevant information that may aid in the arrest of the suspects.
