Kamwenge Councilors Threaten To Boycott Kamwenge Central Market Commissioning Over Poor Accountability

A section of district councilors in Kamwenge District have voiced their reluctance to participate in the anticipated commissioning of the Kamwenge Central Market. They argue that the market does not meet the budgetary expectations saying it is not worth the money spent and does not meet public needs.

The market, funded by the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) through the AgriLED initiative, was constructed at a cost of 1.4 billion shillings. However, despite ongoing rumors about the official commissioning date, a section of councilors have expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of the construction.

In an interview with Crooze FM today, councilors said they are not ready to participate in the commissioning of the market until a clear and detailed accountability of funds is established.
