The High Court in Kampala has fixed December 19, 2025, to hear an election petition challenging the nomination of Loydah Kyarikunda Muhimbura, the NRM flag bearer for the Mbarara Woman Member of Parliament seat.
The petition was filed by Hope Maurishia, an independent candidate in the race, against Loydah Kyarikunda Muhimbura and the Electoral Commission, alleging that Kyarikunda’s nomination was based on forged academic documents.
According to the hearing notice, the case registered as Election Petition No. HCT-00-CV-EP-0007-2025 will be heard at 10:00 a.m.
The notice, signed by Kintu Simon Zirintusa, directs the respondents, Loydah Kyarikunda Muhimbura and the Electoral Commission, to file affidavits in reply to the petition within three days. The court warned that failure to comply may result in the matter being determined in their absence.
