Police in Bushenyi District have launched investigations into an aggravated robbery that occurred shortly after midnight on February 18, 2026, in Katooma Cell, Ryeishe Parish, Ibaare Sub-county.

The suspect has been identified as Kankiriho Ramathan, also known as Samuel, a 21-year-old security guard attached to Blue Water Guard Private Security Company and a resident of Katooma Cell. He was arrested while allegedly robbing a bar owned by Baitwababo Godfrey.

According to police, the suspect reportedly held Baitwababo’s wife, Tushemereirwe Annet, and three customers at gunpoint before stealing Shs40,000.

Bushenyi Police spokesperson Apollo Tayebwa said officers responded promptly after receiving information about the incident. By the time police arrived, the suspect had already been restrained by the bar owner, his family members, and customers.

Police re-arrested the suspect and recovered the stolen cash along with a firearm believed to belong to the security company. Authorities described him as a habitual offender, citing accounts from local residents.

The suspect remains in custody and will be charged in court upon completion of investigations.
