The Electoral Commission in Kamwenge District has received more than 80 complaints following the recently concluded LC I chairperson elections, with candidates seeking fresh polls and the nullification of results over alleged electoral irregularities.
District Electoral Commission Registrar George William Magezi said the complaints include formal petitions, verbal reports, and telephone complaints from villages across the district.
Magezi said four complaints were resolved through repeat elections on polling day after officials established that the initial voting process had been compromised. However, he noted that the Electoral Commission has no legal mandate to overturn results that have already been officially declared.
