Kanara Seed Secondary School Finally Nears Completion

By Ivan Mugisha

The long-awaited Kanara Seed Secondary School in Kanara Sub-county, Kitagwenda District, is set to be completed by the end of this week, bringing relief to residents who have waited more than three years for the government-funded project.

Construction of the Shs2.6 billion school began in early 2023 under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Programme (UGIFT) and was initially awarded to Skyworth Technology Service Limited, with an expected completion period of 18 months. However, the contractor failed to complete the works on time and was later removed from the site.

The project was subsequently handed over to TIABSA to complete the remaining works. Kitagwenda Chief Administrative Officer Moses R.K. Dalili says the district is satisfied with the progress and is confident the school will be ready for commissioning and use once the final works are completed later this week.
