Ruti Health Centre II in Mbarara City South Division is facing a critical shortage of health workers, affecting the delivery of essential medical services.
The facility, which serves an estimated population of about 10,000 people, is currently operating with only three health workers instead of the recommended nine for a Health Centre II.
According to the facility in-charge, Agatha Twinamatsiko, the staffing gap has strained service delivery amid a rising number of patients seeking care.
She noted that despite offering key services such as antenatal care, HIV counselling and testing, immunisation, and family planning, the limited workforce has made it difficult to meet demand effectively.
Mbarara City Deputy Town Clerk Simon Ejuwa acknowledged the challenge, saying the Ministry of Health Uganda is working to deploy additional health workers to address the gap.
