Police in Rubirizi District are investigating a suspected murder following a domestic dispute that resulted in the death of 53-year-old James Mwebe, a resident of Kirugu Village in Kichwamba Sub-county.
According to Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson Apollo Tayebwa, the incident occurred on April 12, 2026, when Mwebe reportedly got into a domestic altercation with his wife, Stella Namusoke. Community members are said to have intervened, during which the victim was allegedly assaulted.
Mwebe was taken to Kyenzaza Health Centre III on April 13 but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police visited the scene, recorded statements from witnesses, and transported the body to Rugazi Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Authorities have confirmed that Namusoke is in custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are ongoing to track down other individuals suspected to have been involved in the assault.
