Whistle Blowers an Emerging threat to Government Projects
Energy Minister Mary Gorreti Kitutu has warned that whistle blowers are the emerging threat to government projects with the ministry of energy being the most affected.
The Whistleblowers act was enacted in 2010 and allows individuals in both the private & public sectors to disclose information relating to irregular, illegal, unethical and corrupt practices.
Kitutu says that sometimes individuals who have failed to secure contracts use the law to fail successful bidders.
She says they end up stalling vital government projects hence failing development of the country.
Kitutu said this during a signing ceremony for the Grid Expansion & reinforcement project for the West Nile region at Imperial Royale Hotel.
