UNRA Urged To Provide Emergency Funding In Mbarara City
The acting chairperson for Bwizibwera town council, Kashari South in Mbarara district Peterson Kakuru has requested the ministry of finance, planning and economic development and ministry of local government together with Uganda National Roads Authority UNRA to provide emergency funding on improving road network to prevent destruction of merchandise and infrastructure in Mbarara city.
Kakuru made the request following heavy rainfall that caused heavy floods which entered business premises and destroyed items such as bags of posho, sugar, beans, millet and cassava flour including beddings.
The town clerk Bwizibwera town council Nelson Mugumya also requested the government to provide funds to facilitate the beautification project that will assist in controlling soil erosion and flash floods which often contribute to blocking of poorly constructed water drainages.
The hail storm further caused destruction of banana plantations, fields of cassava, millet, beans putting lives of over eighty households in misery of what to eat in Kaburishokye cell Rwebishekye ward Bwizibwera town council.
The councilor representing Bwizibwera town council Kashari south Mbarara district Richard Mwije said the hail storm lasted over three hours.
