Ugandan in the Diaspora sues President Museveni,Ofwono Opondo and Asan Kasingye for blocking him on Twitter.
A Student at Harvard University of America has dragged President Yoweri Museveni, Government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo and the Chief Political Commissar, AIGP Asan Kasingye to the High court accusing them of blocking him from accessing their twitter accounts.
Hillary Innocent Sseguya through his relative Hassan Male Mabirizi, says he is a Ugandan citizen pursuing a Master’s degree in International Relations at the Harvard University in the US;
And that all his troubles started in April this year when he asked President Museveni to resign from power during his visit in Angola, and thats where a decision to block him from following the three government officials on twitter, was reached.
Sseguya argues that the government officials decision is illegal, improper and irrational because the said Twitter accounts are used in public domain to communicate and receive feedback from citizens.
Sseguya says as a citizen in the diaspora he is only capable of getting information relating to his country’s governance and to communicate to the respective officials via their twitter handles and therefore blocking him violates his constitutional rights.
He now wants the High Court in Kampala to direct that he be unblocked and declare that the actions of blocking him on twitter are unlawful and illegal.
