Uganda needs enough Bicycles before banning public transport
President of the Republic of Uganda H.E YK Museveni has revealed that the novel coronavirus can be overcome and various measures are being applied, with others being considered.
While addressing the nation for the 4th time after Uganda recorded 9 cases ( March 24,2020),the President ordered that no one should increase commodity prices in this #COVID_19 crisis. He says those doing so are crooks. Spies are coming;you’ll be arrested and licence cancelled if you are caught overcharging people.
Meanwhile, Public transport like Boda boda, taxis, buses, can’t be banned now (may be later) because urban centres especially Kampala metropolitan area have no enough bicycles to transport people.
Those without personal transport means are advised to stay home if they can,or be cautious.
He said that he had also talked to the Uganda Manufacturers Association chairperson, Barbara Mulwana and Trade and Industry Minister, Amelia Kyambadde to see if the Road-master bicycle factory in Namanve can be revived.
