Uganda is not Poor – President Museveni.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that Uganda is not poor but citizens have failed to fully participate in fruitful activities especially farming and agriculture.
While addressing the nation, through Ankole and Kigezi sub region journalists at his country home Rwakitura Kiruhura district on Monday 23 December 2019,Museveni said farming and agriculture is still Uganda’s backbone though farmers still lack extensive knowledge especially in livestock, tea, maize, and other concepts of this economic activity.
For tea, Uganda was annually producing 3 million Kg in 1986 unlike 60 million currently, but the prices are still hampering benefits.
For milk, Uganda currently produces 2.5 billion litres annually, from 200 million litres in 1986.
When asked about how government is ensuring boosting the farming and agriculture sector,he said scientists are working around the clock to introduce an injection that will help cattle kill ticks, and more sensitization and other measures are underway for Ugandans to fully participate and benefit from farming.
