Two Mwizi SACCO officials rearrested over corruption
Two officials of Mwizi SACCO in Rwampara district are being investigated after being rearrested by operatives believed to be connected to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit led by Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema on Saturday 20th June 2020 for misusing shs411 million from the SACCO.
The suspects are Evarist Mujuni, the chairperson board and Evans Kabombo, the chairperson supervisory committee whose arrest followed whistleblowers’ call upon the Anti-Corruption Unit to investigate SACCO mismanagement.
Tugumisirize Nazarious,one of the whistleblowers today, June 26, 2020 disclosed that the Unit did an audit that lasted for 81 days and found out that the SACCO had made a loss of 411 million shillings.
This is not the first time the two have been arrested on charges related to corruption as they were once arrested in Kileka last year but were later granted bail by court.
