Two Middle East Consultant officials remanded on charges of human trafficking and forgery.
Entebbe Court Chief Magistrate Mary Babirye has today Wednesday,September 11,2019 further remanded two Middle East Consultant officials who were last Friday charged with four counts of human trafficking and forgery.
Godfrey Kyalimpa and Benon Kunywana had applied for bail through their lawyer Ivan Wanume but Prosecution’s Jean Nareeba objected to their release saying neither the sureties presented nor the accused persons are residents within Entebbe and therefore are a flight risk.
It’s against this background that Magistrate Babirye sent them back on remand at Kigo prison until 16th September 2019 to rule on their bail application.
Last week the accused persons appeared before Grade one Magistrate Phiona Birungi and denied the allegation.
Its alleged that Kanywana a general manager and Kyalimpa a recruiting and vetting officer for Middle East Consultants Labour Export Company, printed, issued and distributed a clearance list for migrant workers from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, intending to illegally export workers out of Uganda.
They allegedly committed the offence on 12th February this year between Kampala and Entebbe airport in Wakiso.
