Police in Bushenyi is investigating two con men who were caught red-handed as they were trying to steal from the Agriculture Cluster Development project (ACDP), a World bank project which is currently being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Keirere Green Africa Agency (KEGRA), the contractor.
According to Emmy Kweyunga, the CEO of KEGRA, the two have been identifying themselves as Moses Mbangire as a Project Field Committee Member for ACDP and Swaib Kitaka a Field Audit Committee Member.
Kweyunga expounds that the two were declared conmen recently when they approached him and started asking weird questions on the E-Voucher system.
He became suspicious and called at the National headquarters for ACDP to inquire whether they had sent him auditors in the above names which the project staff denied.
Kweyunga told Crooze FM that he informed police in time who came and arrested the duo who are currently detained at Bushenyi Central police station.
The OC CID Bushenyi Ronald Kivengere confirmed the arrest of the two adding that they were arrested on Wednesday and are still being held at the station as investigations continue.
