Special Interest Group Nominations Close Today
Nominations for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) across the country close today with different political parties expressing their readiness to field candidates from village to national level.
The electoral commission deputy spokesperson Paul Bukenya earlier said that all arrangements have been made to ensure smooth nominations and subsequent elections.
Speaking to Crooze fm, Annette Nagasha the Assistant election officer for Kamukuzi Division says the exercise has been smooth adding that there was overwhelming response especially among the youth with 160 seeking nomination for various positions in the 14 villages.
Nagasha adds that of these 39 are female while 77 are male.
The older persons are 59, 25 of them are female while 34 are male.
21 are persons with disabilities, with 7 female and 14 male.
She has thanked the stakeholders, especially village chairpersons who helped with the distribution of forms in different areas.
