Shops Closed After 10 Test Positive For COVID-19 in Mbarara

Residents of Kijungu Nyamityobora Kakoba division and other areas in the city of Mbarara are on tension after 10 people tested positive for COVID-19 prompting the district task force to seal off Kashaka building in Kijungu and closing some neighboring shops yesterday.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mbarara, Lt Col James Mwesigye said there is extensive reluctance within the public in adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOPs) and authorities won’t tolerate it.
According to Mbarara regional referral hospital director Dr Celestine Barigye, the hospital has started stopping some cases from Kasese,Fort portal and now refer them to hospitals there.
Mbarara regional referral has since March received about 55 coronavirus patients and 45 including foreigners were discharged.
Authorities have further cautioned political actors to avoid massive gatherings that are leaving room for the spread.
