Sheema COVID-19 Taskforce Summons Kateshumbwa Over Massive ‘Unlawful’ Procession

Sheema district COVID-19 task force led by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Frank Kyerere has summoned Sheema municipality MP aspirant, Dickson Kateshumbwa for violating the COVID-19 prevention guidelines in a massive ‘unlawful’ procession by his supporters on Sunday, August 9, 2020.
The ministry of health, the electoral commission and police recently reechoed caution against politicians to avoid flouting the guidelines but some big shots continue to be accused over the same.
RDC Kyerere faults Kateshumbwa for this procession held around Sheema municipality contrary to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) though Kateshumbwa’s political assistant Dr. Polly Nkwasibwe Katate criticizes police for trying to block them.
According to Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Commander Bosco Otim, police mounted roadblocks to stop the procession, all in vain. No one was arrested.
Kateshumbwa resigned as Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) commissioner for domestic taxes late May and later sought endorsement from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) before being nominated to face the minister of science and technology Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye on Sheema municipality MP race in the 2020/21 general elections.
