Security experts warn against registering boda boda passengers
Security experts have expressed skepticism about some of the conditions set for boda bodas to resume ferrying of passengers across the country.
While addressing the nation on the Covid-19 situation in the country on Tuesday, President Museveni said that boda boda riders could resume ferrying passengers on Monday next week but will be required to among other things register all their passengers with contact details and National ID numbers.
He said this would help in contact tracing in the event of a reported case of infection from one person to another during that movement.
However, David Egesa, a private security expert says issuance of these personal details will have serious security implications.
He instead proposes that government considers offering polythene like materials for the riders among measures to enhance protection.
