Schools to Open Up Amid Rising Covid_19 Cases
We are ready to open up schools – State Minister of Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo has revealed.
The State minister of higher education, John Chrysostom Muyingo has revealed that the his ministry is ready to open up schools again but they are only waiting a green light from the ministry of health.
The re-opening of schools that were closed in March due to covid-19 hangs in balance after the assurgency of covid-19 cases across the country and current reported deaths.
Speaking to journalists at parliament, Muyingo says that they are ready to reopen schools as the ministry but they cannot go ahead and reopen schools without getting clearance from scientists, hence reopening of school now depend on Ministry of health.
Muyingo has also asked the students to continue with the home schooling and he has appealed to the parents to make sure that their children embrace the home schooling strategy and that the government is going to continue to provide the learning materials.
He also says that they have sent a team of technical experts from the ministry of education to study the preparedness of schools to reopen in relation to the special operation procedures that were set my ministry of health.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in his last national address said that the decision by the government to reopen schools will be reached upon in September.
