Rwanda start road to 2022 World Cup with an away win
Rwanda football team opened their campaign to play in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with a 0-3 win away to the Seychelles on Thursday.
Muhadjir Hakizimana put the East African nation ahead after thirty one minutes before Yannick Mukunzi added another goal four minutes later to double the visitor’s lead before half time.
Simba S.C. striker Meddie Kagere then sealed the win nine minutes from time.
The teams meet again next week on Tuesday in Kigali and the aggregate winner will join other countries in a 10-group second round, starting next March 2020.
Elsewhere, French coach Julien Mette led Djibouti to a surprise 2-1 win over eSwatini on Wednesday while the East African derby between Burindi and Tanzania ended in a 1-1 draw.
