Rukutana is an asset – PM Rugunda
Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda Ndugu has defended Labour State Minister Mwesigwa Rukutana’s public service record, saying his capacity to deliver on key assignments and render vigorous legal advice to government remains unmatched and he is an asset to NRM and Uganda at large.
Rugunda revealed this over the weekend in Ntungamo district where he met a number of NRM leaders including flag bearers and independents following disagreements arising from the party primary elections.
This is the first time such a high ranking government official is speaking highly of Rukutana who doubles as Rushenyi county MP in Ntungamo district but is surrounded by scandals including misuse of gun.
Rugunda, who was in South Western Uganda from Friday to Sunday on NRM Central Executive Committee assignment, met flag bearers, losers and those who have chosen to contest as independents in districts like Rwampara, Ntungamo and Isingiro to ask them to reconcile.
Independents haven’t yet accepted NRM’s suggestion of withdrawing from the 2021 general election.
