Ruhinda County MP Aspirant Refutes Claims Of Being Funded To Defeat Kahinda Otafiire.
The Ruhinda county Member of Parliament Aspirant Atukunziire Robert Mbaine has refuted claims that he is being funded by a section of leaders in the district to defeat General Kahinda Otafiire.
The constituency’s seat is now occupied by Captain Dononzio Kahonda who shifted his eyes to the news Ruhinda South Constituency seat leaving the battle for other contestants.
The contestants in the NRM Primaries are Bagwa Nuwagaba Mathias, Atukunzire Robert Mbaine and General Kahinda Otafiire.
In response to the allegation, Mbaine says he is doing his campaigns personally and not being sponsored by anyone.
However, his statement was also not clear as he left it with a possibility that he might have received money for campaigns from someone whom he did not disclose.
“Maj. Gen Otafiire just fears the support people are already showing so far. He already knows I will defeat him”, Mbaine narrated.
On a further note, Mbaine warned his opponents’ against including him in the conflicts of Ruhinda County which he claim not to know their origin. He added that the conflict is aimed at tarnishing his name so that he can lose a vote.
“We had conflicts in the last election, I have come to work for people not fighting or causing rivalries, even if someone wants me to join him and we fight battles I will not “he added.
Reacting on the issue, the Mitooma district NRM Chairperson Wilberforce Byaboneka warned aspirants against causing violence and hatred amongst voters adding that whoever falls a victim will bear the circumstances.
He said they have always held peaceful elections and everyone who’s target is leading the district into a chaotic election won’t succeed.
“Mitooma has always been peaceful, we had Kahinda. He is a major general but he lost and went, he did not fight so whoever is saying Mitooma is not peaceful is wrong. If one brings chaos, we shall work with security operatives and they sort him/her out”, he vowed.
Mitooma district is currently made up of three counties i.e Ruhinda North, Ruhinda and the newly created Ruhinda South Constituency.
